I admired him greatly for that but I did not know much else about him. It was not until the middle of last year that I heard he was running for President. I became a staunch supporter last October when he was the lone voice speaking out against the war in Iraq. I was disgusted with the Democratic party's lack of opposition. As I learned more about Dean, I found several things that excited me.

1) He is a doctor and has a plan for Universal Health care.

2) While providing health care for 92% of adults and 96% of Children in Vermont, Governor Dean was still able to balance the budget. In fact, Vermont may be the only state running a surplus this year.

3) He is a Democrat with a backbone, something that is unfortunately quite rare these days.

4) He has pledged to get rid of Bush's irresponsible tax cuts for the wealthy and use the money for health care and funding first responders for Homeland Security.

There are some of Dean's positions such as the Death Penalty (he is for it in cases of murder of a child, police officer, or terrorism) that I do not agree with, but I always know where he stands.

I have been volunteering unofficially for the Dean campaign for a few months now. For the first time in a long time I have hope for the future of this country.

<a href="javascript:HaloScan('<$BlogItemNumber$>');">

First blog post

This new blog is a late night experiment right now so I don't expect to share the link for a few days (if ever), but if you have run across by accident, welcome.

Condi and Rummy did the talk show circuit today trying to make the case that Bush's state of the union was technically accurate. Funny, I don't recall the right wing giving Clinton a break for his "technically accurate" statement "I did not have sexual relations with that woman...". But I guess lying about sex with your girlfriend is a much more egregious offense than lying about the threat to this country to get people to support a war. So what if people died? The people from PNAC are happy.

What is PNAC you ask? Their website is currently down, but the link above will take you to a .pdf file that details their sinister plans. I will blog about PNAC in depth some other time. You can visit pnac.info, a blog I just found that exposes these people.

<a href="javascript:HaloScan('<$BlogItemNumber$>');">
